Earthquake Response of Axisymmetric Tower Structures Surrounded by Water
A general method for linear analysis of response of axisymmetric towers, partly submerged in water, to earthquake ground motion is presented. Based on results of the first part of this investigation in which the basic mechanism of structure-water interaction is studied, water is treated as incompressible in the analysis. The effects of surrounding water on the earthquake response of towers are studied. It is demonstrated that these effects are generally significant. (Modified author abstract)
