Wear of English Monumental Brasses Caused by Brass Rubbing
Measurements of the wear of English monumental brasses during brass rubbing have been made using neutron activation analysis. The median rate of wear as determined from twenty six measurements corresponds to an average thickness of 1.8 x 10 to the minus 8th power cm of brass removed per rubbing.
