The report provides data on the patterns of commuting in large metropolitan areas for persons 16 years old and over in the United States in 1970. A table in the report shows the number of workers living inside and outside the central city (cities), working inside central city, working in the SMSA outside and elsewhere in the central city, working in the SMSA outside the central city, working of residence, and includes information on the number of workers not reporting place of work. Data are shown for standard metropolitan statistical areas of 250,000 or more. The table is a preprint of table 363 for Final Report PC(1)-D1, Detailed Characteristics, United States Summary.
