The Resonant Vibration Responses of Two Horizontally Curved Steel Girder Bridges
The report describes what is believed to be the first instance of sustained resonant excitation of horizontally-curved bridges to determine the dynamic response characteristics of this rapidly evolving type of construction. This experimental study was undertaken to determine the resonant vibration response characteristics of a simple-span and a 2-span continuous bridge, both fabricated with horizontally-curved girders. Both bridges were HS20-44 design horizontally-curved welded steel girder bridges with a composite concrete deck slab.
