Reinforced Concrete Wall Form Design Program
Formwork is the container into which plastic concrete is placed; it may be arranged in virtually any manner to achieve the architect's or engineer's desired shape for the structure being constructed. This formwork is a temporary structure which is many times erected on site by experienced construction workers requiring little or no engineering assistance. However, the design of the formwork system lies in fundamental structural engineering calculations to limit the deflection of the members, and to limit the stresses on the members in bending, shear, tension and compression. It is imperative that these calculations be performed to provide a necessary degree of safety and to ensure that the formwork system will completely function to provide the structure intended by the architect or engineer. The objective of this paper is to introduce a quick and reliable object-oriented computer program that will assist engineers during the design of formwork systems for reinforced concrete walls.
