This document was intended as a narrative study to accompany Appomattox Court House troop movement maps. It is a comprehensive study of the activities in and near Appomattox Court House before the actual surrender of Lee to Grant in the McLean House on the afternoon of April 9, 1865. The study is factual as well as informative. It is probably the only detailed study completed on the battles prior to the surrender of General Lee. (Author)
