Hydraulic Design of Improved Inlets for Culverts Using Programmable Calculators: MONROE, Compucorp-325 Scientist. Calculator Design Series No. 1
The programmable calculator as a culvert designing tool offers many desirable features. Compared with the hand method, the calculator is more accurate, less time consuming, and eliminates all the searching through charts and monographs. In one quarter of the time it takes to design one culvert by hand, the designer could use the calculator to design the culvert, checking four or five different sizes to find the best one, while also evaluating several inlet configurations including both side- and slope-tapered inlets. The procedure herein covers both box and circular pipe culverts.
