A Hydraulic Model Study of Landslide-Generated Water Waves in Bays
The investigation for which this paper is being written is a hydraulic model study on waves created by landslides falling down a slope. The primary objective of this study is to enable one to predict the height of a wave from the various parameters that govern it. All testing was confined to the two-dimensional case, rather than the three-dimensional case, because it was both simpler to investigate and sufficient in determining the principal relationship among the pertinent parameters. This model study, discusses waves created by the displacement of water by boxes sliding down in incline. The entire experimental arrangement simulated a landslide-generated wave in 2-dimensions in a bay. (Author)
