California Landscape Province Preservation Studies. Summary
The purpose of the report is to analyze all basic uses and attributes of the provinces taking into consideration geologic, scenic, and biotic communities together with associated land use problems and practices; development of criteria for the selection of the most suitable sites to preserve examples of each landscape province; and delineation of sites to be preserved. This Summary gives direction to the Department of Parks and Recreation's desire to preserve portions of California's natural landscape. The Department also strives to provide and maintain recreation areas and sites of historical interest.
