Parking Standards
This report develops desirable minimum parking standards. A South African design vehicle is developed from which parking bay dimensions and aisle widths for 90 degree parking and angle parking as well as dimensions for on-street parking bays are proposed. Certain parking garage standards are also discussed. The present standards for off-street parking provision requirements of local authorities within the metropolitan areas of South Africa are analyzed and compared with parking demand and the proposed requirements. Finally, minimum parking provision standards for the majority of land uses are proposed.
