Initial Assessment of the Albanian Housing Sector. From Planning to Markets: Housing in Eastern Europe
The purpose of this paper is to provide a preliminary assessment of the housing sector in Albania. In so doing, the first section of the paper outlines the political and economic history of Albania, concentrating on the current economic situation. The second section, describes Albanian social and demographic factors. The third section provides an overview of the housing sector in Albania by describing the housing sector's institutional framework, characteristics, demand and tenure, construction industry, and the structure of the Albanian banking system. In addition, the last section provides an outline of technical assistance proposed for Albania's housing sector.
