Verification of Nuclear Moisture and Density Gauges
Project research objectives were to: Verify the practicability of obtaining field moisture and density tests in earth materials by means of nuclear surface and depth type gauges, and Verify the practicability of obtaining field asphalt densities in hot mix by means of a nuclear asphalt density gauge. Conclusions indicated that: Commercial nuclear gauges are as accurate as present conventional methods of testing and, A field compaction control procedure for asphalt density is feasible. (Author)
