Installation Report: Evaluation of Asphalt Additives
Five asphalt additives that are supposed to improve the stability and flexibility characteristics of asphalt concrete were installed in pavement test sections on Route 58 in Halifax County, Virginia. Polymers, latex rubbers, and a diatomaceous deposit were used, and a control section was included that contained hydrated lime. The preliminary results of various field and laboratory tests are described. There were no major construction problems and all materials are performing satisfactorily.
