Comparison of Static and Dynamic Elastic Moduli of Rock Material
Static and dynamic moduli of various rock materials were determined simultaneously during uniaxial compression tests. Static moduli were calculated from strain measurements by means of wire resistance strain-gauges. Dynamic moduli were calculated from compressional and shear wave velocities measured with the sonic velocity method. From the results obtained, a definite relationship between the static and dynamic moduli of elasticity was established. However, the results did not indicate a relationship between the static and dynamic Poisson's ratio values. (Copyright (c) Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, 1987.)
