One of the most severe problems facing the highway industry today is the rapid deterioration of concrete bridge decks. The need for quick setting, durable patching material has been evident for some time. Polymer concrete seems to solve the problem to provide fast development of strength and protection against chloride penetration in the bridge deck. In this project, a system related to patchwork using polymer concrete with local aggregates was developed and this was compared with the commercially available materials. This study includes the laboratory tests and field performance of the system using the polymer matrix developed at SDSM&T. Chapter 2 deals with the test program in the laboratory. The field applications are presented in Chapter 3 of this report. Findings and evaluations of this study are reported in Chapter 4.
