Maps and geographic information are the foundation upon which applications for physical planning and natural resource conservation can be built. The purpose of this volume is to focus on the use of the information technology within these fields. The volume is a collection of contributions from persons who have expert knowlege in their own fields, but who are also aware that these fields are subsystems in a larger national information network.
