Residential Building Fires (2011-2013). Topical Fire Report Series, Volume 16, Issue 1, June 2015
From 2011 to 2013, fire departments responded to an estimated 372,900 fires in residential buildings each year across the nation. These fires resulted in an annual average of 2,530 deaths, 13,125 injuries and $7 billion in property loss. The residential building portion of the fire problem is of great national importance, as it accounts for the vast majority of civilian casualties.
