Mass Production Urban Housing
A new structural system is developed through the concept design stage that is amenable to factory production using relatively unskilled factory labor. This structural system permits the harnessing of plumbing, electrical and soil drain harnesses within the structure for factory prefab. Simple connectors are devised to speed field erections of the factory produced elements. Architectural studies are made to utilize the structural system in low rise low density, high rise high density and dormitory configurations. A system cost study is made based upon a seven story apartment building design containing 56 dwelling units. (Author)
