Eufaula Dam Spillway Canadian River, Oklahoma: Hydraulic Model Investigation
Model tests of the spillway for Eufaula Dam were concerned with the study of pressures on the underdesigned spillway crest and development of a safe and economical stilling basin design. Tests were conducted in a 1:36-scale section model that reproduced two spillway gate bays plus adjacent half bays and a corresponding width of the stilling basin. Realignment of the upstream portion of the spillway crest resulted in improved pressure conditions of maximum head (39.7 ft); for design head (30 ft) pressures were about zero atmospheric. Head-discharge relations established from model data agreed closely with computed values.
