Parameters for the Continuously Yielding Joint Model
In this work, the triaxial joint shear test has been studied, to see if the test can be used for the determination of general joint properties and especially if the test is able to give the model parameters of the Continuously Yielding joint model. At the laboratory test phase triaxial shear tests, direct shear tests and joint normal stiffness determinations were conducted for four rock types from the Kemi open pit. Shear strength, friction angle, cohesion, joint normal, and shear stiffness were determined from the tests. Uniaxial and indirect tension tests were conducted as well to gain basic data and knowledge of the rock types tested and to obtain initial values for calculations and modeling.
