Hydraulic Fracture Diagnostics Research. Annual Report July 1984-June 1985
Technical Report No. 85-1, Hydraulic Fracture Diagnostics Research, Annual Report, July 1984 - June 1985, was prepared for the Gas Research Institute under Contract 5083-211-0826. The report presents results of research on seismic data produced by hydraulic fracture treatments and results of magnetic proppant mapping research. Research results are presented for estimation of fracture azimuths from analysis of high-frequency seismic data and for interpretation of mid-band frequency seismic data generated by hydraulic fractures. Development of two dimensional models, to aid in the characterization of hydraulic fractures through study of seismic data, is described and listings of modeling codes are included. Progress on development of an improved Borehole Fracture Mapping Sensor (BFMS) for acquisition of high-frequency seismic data in fracture treatment boreholes is briefly described.
