The aim of this Guide is to illustrate the encoding and electronic transmission procedures of metadata relating to the publications hosted by the digital archive DSpace ISS. The Guide is addressed to the operators charged with compiling XML files to be imported to DSpace ISS. This repository contains the descriptions of the published material authored by the research staff of the ISS as well as the literature produced by the Italian research institutions acting in the field of public health and related disciplines.The archive has been set up by ISS in compliance with the paradigm of the open access to research results. The report describes the file formats adopted by ISS to encode the metadata - from the initial choice of a text file format to the creation of an XML format - referring to the typology of documents to be archived in DSpace ISS.
