From Spontaneous Settlement to Integrated Planning and Development
The reclamation of new land, which is uninhabited, involves internal colonization implying the establishment of a new society. During the execution of the IJsselmeerpolders-project in this century a planning and development system was built up, however, that takes care of detailed integrated plans, takes responsibility for the preparation of the land, for settlement patterns, for construction, for the guiding of immigration, the creation of jobs, and the harmonious integration of the plan in the national planning goals.
