Subgrade Elastic Modulus for Arizona Pavements
Elastic modulus of subgrade is an important input parameter in the newly developed rational methods for the design of pavements. In order to provide guidance for the selection of realistic values of Es for pavement design in Arizona, testing was performed at five field sites typical of Arizona subgrades. Testing involved plate bearing tests, refraction seismic, CBR, Dynaflect, and Road Rater. Correlations are made and guidelines are presented for incorporation of the findings into a pavement management system.
