A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A review of literature on human responses to vibration and the dynamic performance of timber floors is presented. Although many psychological, physiological and environmental factors affect human assessments of vibration intensity, the peak velocity of an oscillation seems to correlate well with subjective assessments. Responses to short-term oscillations are best modelled by a combination of peak velocity and damping capacity.
