Annual Housing Survey: 1980. Housing Characteristics for Selected Metropolitan Areas: Memphis, Tennessee-Arkansas, Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area: Indianapolis, Indiana, Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area
This report presents statistics on housing and household characteristics from the 1980 Annual Housing Survey conducted in Memphis, Tenn.-Ark. Data on general housing characteristics cover selected housing characteristics for 1980, 1977, and 1970; characteristics of new construction units; charactristics of housing units removed from the housing inventory; and characteristics of vacant-year-round housing units. Selected housing characteristics for 1980, 1977, and 1970 are included for black and Spanish-origin householders. Data on indicators of housing and neighborhood quality focus on characteristics of (1) owner- and renter-occupied housing units with black households, and (3) owner- and renter-occupied housing units with Spanish-origin householders. Data on financial characteristics cover characteristics of owner- and renter-occupied units by income of the family or primary person (with separate tables for black and Spanish-origin householders), owner-occupied, one-unit structures by value of property, and renter-occupied housing units by gross rent. Data on recent-mover households present characteristics of (1) all occupied housing units and units occupied by recent movers and (2) the present unit for recent-mover households cross-classified by characteristics of the previous unit. Also presented is income of families and primary persons by purchase price and amount of mortgage. Finally, tables show cross-tabulations of the indicators of housing and neighborhood quality by income, value, and gross rent.
