ACPA 25th Annual Excellence in Concrete Pavement Awards
Concrete Pavement Restoration - Airport 2013 Annual Airfield Pavement Rehabilitation, Denver, CO The 2013 concrete pavement restoration project at the Denver International Airport involved more than 14,000 ft2 (4300 m2) of selective airfield concrete pavement removal and replacement on several aprons, taxiways, and aircraft gate areas. Pre-construction training conducted by the Utah Chapter-ACPA and subsequent round table discussions were implemented for all personnel involved to provide a clear vision of the road ahead. Because Utah restricts temporary reductions in speed limit through work zones, the contractor was faced with additional safety issues while working continuous shifts to meet the schedule. Divided Highways (Rural) I-70 Reconstruction, Sherman County, KS The reconstruction of this section of Interstate-70 in Sherman County, KS, involved a 12.5 mile (20.1 km) long project totaling 650,300 ft2 (200,000 m2) of four-lane concrete pavement, including three interchanges and rest areas on both westbound and eastbound sides.
