The initial projects selected to receive funding under this new initiative form a roster of striking modern buildings: * Alvar Aalto'sPaimio Sanatorium; * Max Berg's * Centennial Hall; * Hilario Candela's Miami * Marine Stadium; * Le Corbusier's apartment and studio; * Ray and Charles Eames' residence "The Eames House"; * Louis Kahn's Salk Institute for Biological Studies; * Dov Karmi's Max Liebling House; * I.M. Pei's Luce Memorial Chapel; * Jørn Utzon's Sydney Opera House; and * Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House. Friends of Miami Marine Stadium, grant of $180,000 for Miami Marine Stadium Designed in 1962 by Cuban-American architect Hilario Candela, Miami Marine Stadium in Miami, FL, is one of the city's most iconic buildings and a showcase for the innovative use of cast-in-place concrete with its sculptural, origami-like roof.\n The Getty Foundation grant will allow the Opera House Trust to complete a comprehensive study of the concrete elements and develop effective, long-term conservation protocols.
