2015 Concrete Society Awards
More than 400 people attended The Concrete Society Awards Dinner held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, UK, on Nov 4, 2015. This event celebrates excellence in concrete and is the longest-running awards in the UK construction industry, now in its 47th year. The overall winner is Lyme Regis Phase IV Seawall and Promenade, Dorset. Lyme Regis is a small seaside town known for its World Heritage status along the Jurassic coastline of Dorset. Over recent decades, improvement works have been constructed to protect the town by stabilizing the coastline. The 2015 Highly Commended is Anderston Footbridge, Glasgow. Known by locals as the "Bridge to Nowhere," the western section of the Anderston Footbridge was constructed in the early 1970s as part of the M8 Glasgow Inner Ring Road project. The bridge was never completed because planned developments didn't materialize. The original section of the footbridge spanned the M8 motorway and slip roads.
