In an interview, Luc Blanchette, Minister for Mines, Quebec, talked about, when the Quebec Government came to power in April 2014, it made a number of commitments for the mining sector. They undertook to share mining, oil and gas royalties with local and Aboriginal communities, to use natural gas supplies to aid in the recovery of the Cote-Nord region, and to develop a world-class network of suppliers and equipment manufacturers in the mining, hydro-electricity and forest sectors. He said, In 2015 alone, Quebec's mining sector generated nearly C$3 billion in investments and supported more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs.
