Analytical Modeling of Ultra-High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Behavior in Ribbed Plates
Two analytical methods are proposed to grasp the ultra-highperformance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) behavior in ribbed plates in bidirectional bending and possible punching shear mechanisms. The first method is based on yield lines theory with a "stress-crack opening" approach. The second method is based on "stress-strain" approach and the Modified Compression Field Theory (MCFT). To validate these analyses, local bending tests carried out on critical locations of a new type of steel-concrete composite bridge deck, as a part of the experimental validation of an innovative UHPFRC two-way ribbed deck, were used as benchmarking cases. The methods have been used successfully. They enabled a better understanding of the failure mechanisms and the behavior of the 50 mm (2 in.) thick UHPFRC deck during the tests.
