A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Performance de la conception integree et integration des technologies de l'information dans un contexte de travail multidisciplinaire: une etude exploratoire
In project management, professionals are faced with having to question their design practices due to the increasing complexity of the construction process and an increasing awareness of the social, economic and environmental impacts. Researchers and specialists are in agreement that integration is the solution for a more effective, more efficient methodology. The transformation from fragmented, linear practices into integrated procedures involving knowledge and know-how represents a major challenge. The project team is mobilized by means of a grouping of various expertises, each with its own culture, language, tools and ability to interact. Thus collaboration is stymied by knowledge sharing. This exploratory study examines the performance of collaborative work in the integrated design process (IDP) at a multi-disciplinary, professional firm seeking to increase its productivity and its capacity for developing innovative, sustainable solutions, and to draw conclusions as to future research avenues.
