Saskatchewan tops Fraser mining survey
The Fraser Institute's annual survey of mining companies, ranked Saskatchewan as the top jurisdiction for mining investment in 2016 based on the survey's Investment Attractiveness Index. The Canadian province moved up to first place from second in the 2015 ranking. Manitoba moved up to second place from 19th in 2015. Western Australia dropped to third, after Saskatchewan displaced it at the top of the ranking. Rounding out the top 10 are Nevada, Finland, Quebec, Arizona, Sweden, the Republic of Ireland and Queensland. The survey assesses how mineral endowments and public policy factors such as taxation and regulatory uncertainty affect exploration and mining investment.
