SPATIOTEMPORAL DYNAMICS OF URBAN PARKS AND THEIR DRIVING FORCES IN XI'AN, CHINA FROM 1949 TO 2015
typical landscape indexes including Percentage of landscape (PLAND), Mean patch size (MPS) and Mean in Euclidean nearest neighbor distance (ENN_MN) were chosen to characterize the spatial dynamics characteristics of urban parks in the aspect of overall proportion, mean size and distribution. [...]the driving forces for the dynamics were explained on the basis of analyzing the urban construction history and spatiotemporal dynamics characteristic rules in Xi'an. 3.Results and analysis 3.1 Temporal dynamics characteristics (1) Overall characteristics Division of the research period: According to the urban and rural planning development of China and Xi'an City and the overall planning preparation process of Xi'an, the research period was divided into four stages: the germination stage (before 1949), the startup stage (1949-1977), the development stage (1978-2000) and the acceleration stage (20002015). (see figure 2) During 1949-2015, both the quantity and area of urban parks continued to increase. [...]concentrated arrangement of public spaces should be considered for adjacent dwelling plots in urban planning so as to form community-sharing and centripetal street green spaces or community parks.
