Experience in grouting Bashkir soils with urea-formaldehyde resin
Conclusions 1. A 40% solution of M-60 urea-formaldehyde resin can be recommended for grouting sand and clay soils round a pile. 2. Control of the pH of the resin solution is an important condition for successful strengthening of the soil. 3. By chemical grouting of the soil round a pile, the load-bearing capacity can be increased in sandy soils by injecting the chemical reagent into the soil round the pile, or in clay soils by driving the pile in a polymer "jacket." 4. Further experiments should be aimed at studying the influence of the mineralogical composition of the soil on the results of strengthening.
