Some results of solving mixed problems of the theories of elasticity and plasticity of foundation bed soils
Conclusions A comparison of the results of solving the mixed problem with the experimental data shows a satisfactory qualitative and, when comparison was possible, quantitative agreement of the calculated and experimental relations and values. A number of experimentally observed phenomena are described sufficiently completely by this problem. The mixed problem permits estimating the errors introduced into calculations by the use of the model of linearly deformable soil, and in a number of cases allows recommending a broadening of the limits of application of this model in comparison with SNiP II-15-74. The direct use of solutions of the mixed problem for foundation designing purposes permits determining their dimensions on the basis of the settlements allowable for the superstructure with consideration of transformation of the contact stress diagrams.
