Improved method of determining the soil collapsibility
Conclusions The proposed measures for improving the soil collapsibility testing method made it possible to:Increase the accuracy in the determination of the unit collapsibility and, consequently, the reliability in the analytical prediction of the soil collapse; To determine, from the test results of a single specimen, the unit collapsibility for different pressures on the soil as well as the relation between the unit collapsibility and the pressure, and on this basis to reduce the number of tests by a factor of 2–4;To take into account more fully, in the carrying out of the tests, the soil collapse development mechanism and to obtain initial data for prediction of the collapse with time;To obtain, from the void ratio values, the coefficients of consolidation and the moduli of deformation for different pressures on the soil.
