Evaluation of the Dynamic Stability of Unsaturated Sandy Soils
Abstract The potential for use of an energy criterion previously introduced by the authors - the amount of energy dissipated by the soil per unit volume, as determined from an experimental strain diagram in total stresses - is investigated for evaluation of the dynamic stability of unsaturated sands. A scheme is proposed for experimental evaluation of the dynamic instability of a soil mass on the basis of the energy approach.
