Prediction of Deformations of Buildings Situated near Pits Opened in Cramped Urban Settings within Moscow
Abstract Engineering methods of predicting the settlements of buildings falling with the zone of influence of pits opened for entities with an underground section and erected within downtown Moscow are presented on the basis of field experiments. These methods make it possible, even in the predesign stage, to predict what settlements of buildings to expect in the construction zone, in order to take protective measures, and also to estimate the volume of capital outlays required and select the most appropriate solution. Results of investigation of effective use of various types of protective measures for buildings are indicated (diaphragm walls and strengthening piles, which can be installed in accordance with different technologies).
