Building material erosion by an abrasive jet
Conclusions The angle of incidence is a main factor affecting erosion of the material. For stone materials the angle $ α_{m} $ corresponding to maximum erosion is 90° and for pure resins, around 45°; for filled compounds approximately 60°, and for plasticized compounds it varies over a fairly wide range. Hence, when comparing the resistance to erosion of various materials, account must be taken of how the angle of incidence affects erosion.Erosion of materials increases with increasing abrasive feed velocity. The erosion resistance of stone materials increases with increasing strength and hardness.Plasticizing and filling lower the resistance to erosion of compounds. The erosion resion resistance of epoxy resin compounds is greater than for stone materials, particularly with angles of incidence approaching 90°.
