Wave Transformation in the Zone of a Submarine Canyon
The transformation of waves due to the reflection from the rims of submarine canyons is considered. Field studies, including the destruction of groin sections of the Imereti port, and laboratory studies revealed that waves obliquely approaching the windward rims of submarine canyons can be 30 to 50% higher than waves beyond the canyons. A mathematical model describing these effects and allowing simulation of the wave fields in zones of submarine canyons is proposed.
