GPS and airborne gravimetry: Recent progress and future plans
Summary The logistical difficulties and expense of measuring gravity over the surface of the earth or ocean provides the motivation for developing techniques for airborne data acquisition. To meet this need, the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory has had an active research program in airborne gravimetry since 1979. This paper provides a brief history, current status and proposed future directions of the program.
