Linear weathering crusts as one of the factors giving rise to landslides in crystalline rocks
Summary In the course of the hydroelectric power plant construction at Dalesice, Moravia, the slope stability in a quarry was disturbed by a landslide occurred with the sliding zone situated along the predisposed zone of linear weathering crust. The degree of rock weathering from the neighbourhood of the sliding zone was investigated. By means of X-ray analysis, DTA and study of grain morphology of the main rock-forming minerals by means of stereoelectrograms, the main products of constructive weathering were identified as chlorite and montmorillonite.
