Slide development dynamics in loessic rocks in central ASIA
Summary The influence of water-bearing fractures on localization and types of slides is considered. Movement mechanism of slides and earthflows is treated. The characteristics of intensity and period of slide movement at Karankul are given. Relationship between slide displacement and groundwater level fluctuation is analysed. Results of artificial moistening of loessic rocks on a slope which was accomplished to prevent earthflows are presented.
