Abstract The programme of dynamic investigations, described partially in this paper, was originated in 1958 during work carried out by the author at the Federal Technical University in Zurich. These investigations are mainly aimed at the determination of the effect of the degree of prestressing on the frequency and logarithmic decrement of free vibration damping in concrete beams.
