Abstract Fourteen simply-supported, raffia palm-reinforced concrete beams were tested to failure under three-point loading. Stirrups formed from raffia palm were provided. There were no diagonal cracks in any of the beams and collapse was mainly due to crushing of the concrete. Failure loads averaged 117 percent of the theoretically predicted values.
