Recent movements of the Earth’s crust in the north-west of the European part of U.S.S.R. in the light of geological and geomorphological data
Conclusion Thus, an analysis of geological and geomorphological data not only confirms how correct in principle is the schema of recent movements, compiled according to geodetic data, but also permits to trace the incipience of the main elements of recent tectonics and appraize their age. Apparently, the outlines of uplift and subsidence areas, which are close to the present ones, have taken their shape on the territory under discussion not earlier than 6–7 th. years ago, after the disintegration of a vast arched uplift of a glacioisostatic nature. At the same time certain elements of recent tectonics (Estonian-Polessie zone) are older and continue to develop uninterruptedly at least since the late glacial period.
