A North-Seeking gyro Attachment for the Theodolite
Summary “A North-Seeking Gyro-Attachment for the Theodolite, by Dr.-Ing. G. J. Strasser and Dipl.-Ing. H. R. Schwendener, Heerbrugg, Switzerland. After a brief historical review into the uses to which the gyroscope has been put, to date, as a north-seeking instrument, a description is given of the function and design of the Wild GAKI Gyro-Attachment. In addition to the already well-known turning point method the new, simple method of observing the gyro transits through the plane of the telescope's line of sight, in the approximate direction of the Meridian, is described together with the Gyro-Attachment's possible applications for use.
