Spanish experience of geotechnical cartography in an urban area

Summary In this communication, the evolution, of geotechnical cartography in Spain is analysed first, with special emphasis on the achievements made at a scale of 1∶25,000, useful in planning studies. A critical description is then given of the different works made at this scale and for this, purpose, carried out under the management and supervision of the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain. Finally, the variations observed during the evolution are described, indicating future outlooks.
