Highlights Analytical solutions for the mode I and II stress intensity factors (SIFs) in a centrally cracked Brazilian disc (CCBD) considering tangential friction effects are proposed. The effects of the pressure distribution angle, tangential friction, and pressure distribution form on the mode I and II SIFs are explored. The loading conditions for pure mode I and II fractures of the CCBD specimens subjected to distributed pressures and frictions are discussed.
